NBSA Coaches
All NBSA coaches are volunteers from the community, usually parents of children currently in the program. It is important for the NBSA, as well as the kids, that parents remain involved with the program. Head coaches and assistant coaches are always needed.
To volunteer to be a coach or assistant coach, select "Volunteer" on the my account page or indicate your desire to volunteer when registering your child.
To be a coach, each volunteer must be approved each season by the NBSA board of Directors. Before any team activities begin, the Board MUST have a current background check on file (background checks are currently good for two years). You can find a link to the right for the service we currently use. You are required to provide personal information including your social Security Number, which will be used to conduct a police records check for each applicant. The City of Northville and the Township of Northville require this information pursuant to MCL Const. Art. VII Sec. 22 and 34.
As of 2/1/2014 the NBSA will be using Verity and Protect Youth Sports to perform background
screening for all NBSA coaches. We will no longer collect information via paper forms‐‐coaches will
enter information directly into the online system. The NBSA will then receive the results of the
background screening. This is all strictly confidential. There is no cost to the coach‐‐the NBSA pays
for the screening process
