Field Improvements

Northville Baseball Softball Association sets aside $7.50 from each registration fee to help fund field improvement projects. In addition, any surplus funds that are collected after all expenses are paid are placed into the Field Development Account. The fields may be Northville Parks and Recreation managed fields or Northville Public School fields. These projects allow NBSA to target specific projects that we consider a high priority for our program.

Should you have any field improvement ideas or suggestions, please don't hesitate to bring them to our attention!  Send us an email with your feedback and suggestions.

Northville High School Baseball and Softball Dugouts (Spring, 2009)

Northville Baseball-Softball Association participated in a joint project with the Northville Athletic Booster Club to purchase dugouts for the Northville High School baseball and softball fields.

Ridge Wood Elementary School Sod and Infield (June, 2008)

NBSA participated in a joint project with Northville Schools, Northville Soccer and Friends of Northville Parks and Recreation to remove the rough surface that existed at the field and replace it with topsoil and new sod.  In addition, the infield was expanded by 10 feet to accommodate the players who use that field.

Millennium Park (2007-2008)

NBSA has funded several improvements at Millennium Park. They include raising backstop heights by 8 feet in an effort to reduce foul balls in the back to back field configuration. NBSA purchased the green pads that cover the wood protection on the lower backstops. The pads stop/slow passed balls and wild pitches from bouncing back to the field. The yellow fence caps were also an NBSA purchase. NBSA also helped fund the grass infields and foul poles when the park was originally constructed.

Meads Mill Curb (June, 2008)

The curb on the south field at Meads Mill Middle School helps prevent erosion of infield materials which has been a significant issue on this field for many years. New backstops and bleacher pads were also funded.

Meads Mill Backstops (2006) and Bleacher Pads (June, 2008)

The new backstops at Meads Mill are a significant improvement to the ones that existed previously. In addition, the concrete bleacher pads make maintenance around the field much easier and avoid the need for mowing and weed control under the bleachers.

Henningsen Park Backstops (2006)

NBSA funded the replacements of backstops at the two fields at Henningsen Park near 6 Mile and Winchester. The previous backstops were about 12 feet tall with no overhang. The improved backstops keep balls off of the police department building on the south field and out of the neighboring yards on the north field (pictured).
